League 2010 at the Legislature


Action Alerts from 2010 session:

* Ask Governor Herbert to veto   2SB 275 Removing Signature from Initiative and Referendum Petition.

* Support HR4, Resolution Urging Ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban TreatyPlease contact your Utah House Representative asking for support of HR4.

* Support SB194 -Assessment Area Act Amendments enables homeowners to get a loan to make energy efficiency improvements, and have the loan paid off as part of their property tax

. * Oppose HB143, HB323, HB324 - bills dealing with money dedicated to public education.

* Oppose SB223 Department of Environmental Quality Boards Amendments --

* Support: Please contact members of the House Business and Labor Committee (contact
information below) and request they vote in favor of HB145.

* Support HB66.  Prosthetic Limb Health Insurance Parity (Litvack, D)   It requires an insurer who provides a health benefit plan to offer coverage for prosthetic devices.

* Oppose SB108 and SB109 if you are concerned about independence of the judiciary.

* Oppose bills that will limit transparency provided by the Government Records Access Management Act (GRAMA) and the Open and Public Meetings Act.  

Transparency in government is one of the basic positions of the League.

 
* HB90 - Income Tax Amendments. Please contact the members of the House Revenue and Taxation Committee before Sunday evening to ask for their positive vote on HB90. HB90 would provide approximately $100 million more for education starting in 2011.

* HJR5 - Joint Resolution on Clean Air, sponsored by Representative Carol Moss will be debated in the House Wednesday, Feb 17 at 10:30

Please ask your Representative to vote yes to discourage unnecessary idling of motor vehicles.

* Oppose HJR24 in the House Tuesday Feb. 16 at 10 a.m.

At 10:10 tomorrow the House will vote on HJR24, Joint Resolution on Equal Treatment by Government, a proposed amendment to the Utah Constitution.


* Oppose HB228 to classify municipal waste incineration as renewable energy source. Ask your Utah House members to vote NO on HB228.
